Join the Redwood Region Audubon Society for this presentation. Pristine sandy beaches are highly coveted by both breeding shorebirds and sun-loving humans who annually migrate to the U.S. Atlantic Coast. These beaches contain many important shorebird breeding sites, and are simultaneously some of the most valuable recreational beaches in North America. Dr. Katherina Gieder, lecturer in the Wildlife Department at Humboldt State University, will introduce us to the Piping Plover, a small shorebird whose presence compels beach managers to balance their needs with those of human sun-seekers. Bring a mug for shade grown coffee and come fragrance free.
