Re: “Sure, Take Lassie To Work

I'd just rather work where I can have my canine buddy around most of the time,(which I'm lucky enough to have done for the last decade - thanks for the company Tre).

Re: “Transitions: Journal Announces (Another) New Editor

I'd also like to thank Ryan for a great job as acting editor (and am glad to hear he wasn't considered for full editor because he wants to continue his reporting and writing - which are quite valuable I believe). Also a welcome to Carrie - I think it is an asset to get someone with her experience and outside views. I just don't understand the concept of "too many books"...

Re: “Tsunami Warning Downgraded, Governor Declares State of Emergency (4:20 p.m. update)

Ryan, the image of wave height predication from NOAA is fascinating but I think a bit deceptive if you consider the patterns as "plumes". It represents peak wave heights but does not represent how the waves are moving necessarily. Better imagery of the movement is also at NOAA's Center for Tsunami Research web site ( http://nctr.pmel.noaa.gov/honshu20110311/ ) which shows predicted wave movement and interaction, due to coastlines or ocean floor features; looks to be a "line" of wave interaction matching the "plume" leading toward the north coast. (the NYT LEED site has stills of this here: http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/03/11/video-of-the-earthquake-and-tsunami-in-japan/?hp#mapping-the-quake-and-tsunami ). Or a link to the NOAA video of wave interaction here: http://www.youtube.com/user/NOAAPMEL?feature=mhum#p/c/3/PBZGH3yieLc
