Re: “Guest Post: The Burned House

I agree something feels wrong about not knowing our neighbors. I don't know what to do. I work full time. I volunteer and do some political work. And it always seems like my "free time" gets reallocated according to family needs. I feel like I'm conscious about the world I live in and trying to live in a sustainable, community-minded way.

I have occasional conversations with two of my neighbors. We talk about gardening, and they've brought us some baked goods and barbecue, which I ate even though none of it fit into my diet (It was all delicious!). Maybe I should try to return the favor. Or maybe we could have a little party and invite the neighbors.

It certainly takes some guts to introduce yourself to strangers, especially ones that have lived right across the street for so long. But it would probably be worth it and not nearly as scary as I imagine it to be. These "strangers" can't be any more weirder than me and my wife!
