Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces."
COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.
If you are a veteran, we will help you get there with free transportation, keep you entertained, feed you really well and provide access to medical and dental services. Housing for the weekend will be available. The North Coast Stand Down is a pet friendly event. Veterinarians will be available to provide care for the pets or service animals of veterans.
We will introduce you to knowledgeable service providers anxious to help you find your way to benefits earned through your military service. We are working on adding denture repair and will be transporting a limited number of veterans into Eureka to be fit for new boots. This year we will add screening for eyeglasses and plan to provide new eyeglasses to as many veterans as we are able.
Warm clothing and gear will be available for those who need it most.
Check it out - we will be there - waiting to "thank you for your service" the first weekend in October at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds.
