Nessi Gomes

Portuguese-British singer/songwriter's music was influenced by Portuguese ‘fado’ and the raw spark of Brit pop. She began singing at 16 with bands throughout her home island Guernsey and the UK. She earned a reputation as an original nu-folk solo artist with ‘heart-shaking melodies and a one-of-a-kind voice.’ She traveled to Central America where she lived with a community in the forests of Costa Rica. Her musical style, "medicinal folk", was influenced by indigenous traditions, "imbued with the sacred yet maintaining a pop-culture flavor."
