Mutt Meet

Rumor has it, dog ownership can lead to one of the most rewarding relationships you'll have in your lifetime. But let's face it: When searching for that perfect canine to call your own, finding "man's best friend" is the best-case scenario. Poor suckers who don't do their due diligence may find their carpets changing colors, their noses closed for business and/or their legs undesirably romanced. "Man's best friend?" Hardly.

Need help choosing wisely? That's what HumDOG is for. This Sunday, March 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Redwood Acres Fairgrounds, HumDOG brings you its 24th Annual Dog Expo in an attempt to make sure you get Lady, not the Tramp.

Don't worry, there will be plenty opportunity to scratch ears and rub bellies. Throughout the day you'll have the opportunity to meet and learn about more than 30 dog breeds, as well as interact with local breeders, service dog organizations, dog club representatives and other dog owners. The event also features dog agility and obedience performances, "Dancing with the Dogs," various raffles and the always popular Parade of Breeds.

Since canines have been known to be, we'll say, jealous types, you should leave your personal pets at home. Cats in particular are not welcome. For more info, call 444-3862 or check out www.humdog.org.
