Mountain Meadow Restoration

When: Fri., Aug. 14, 7:30-9 p.m. 2015
Price: Free
Redwood Region Audubon Society will sponsor this presentation by Karen Pope, research wildlife biologist with the US Forest Service’s Pacific Southwest Research Station, Redwood Sciences Laboratory. Many meadows in the west are degraded, and efforts are increasing to restore mountain meadow systems. Ms. Pope will discuss the restoration of degraded meadows in the Sierra Nevada, and a study comparing ecological variables between restored and unrestored montane meadows in California. A new study near Lassen Volcanic National Park is being done to understand the benefits of using beaver and beaver dam analogues to restore meadows. Bring a mug for coffee.
