Always looking for the silver bullet: the savior, the Giant Corporation that will save us all. But it really doesn't work like that anymore - or did it ever?
Our tendency to judge the victim is part of the reason it's harder for them to admit they are in a bad relationship. It's hard enough to be in such a situation in the first place - the abusers are often very manipulative. If you see a friend or colleague who might need help, the best thing you can do is let them know you are concerned without judging.

Rumor has it that Commissioners Ulansey, Morris, Bongio, and McKenny all cancelled this afternoon - exactly what is going on here? Calling a Special Meeting with 24 hours' notice, then cancelling it with 2 hours' notice? This subversion of public process is an absolute outrage.
The GPU "Ad Hoc Working Group" was not appointed - it was a changing group depending on the topic, e.g. the Circulation Element was reviewed by one group, the Economic Development Element by another group - with some overlap. It was convened as a favor to Ryan Sundberg, who wanted to quell the firestorm over the GPU. When the realtors and developers quit the Ad Hoc Working Group, and Lee Ulansey demanded that he be handed the GPU to gut, the firestorm has flared up again. Glad people are paying attention!
