Maundy Thursday Service

For several years now, St. Alban’s Episcopal Church has observed an integrated service of foot washing and agape meal in the parish hall followed by the stripping of the altar in the sanctuary. Participants are asked to bring offerings of salad, wine or juice. Maundy comes from the Latin mandatum meaning mandate or command referring to Jesus’ new commandment to the disciples to love one another as he has loved them (John 13:34-36). For Christians around the world, worship on this day includes washing one another’s feet as a sign of loving one another in accordance with Christ’s command as well as a commemoration of our Lord’s final supper with his disciples. St. Alban’s welcomes LGTBQ people. Links to other activities and programs may be found at www.stalbansarcata.org or call (707) 822-4102.
