Liberate The Caged Voices is an ongoing campaign to educate the general public about what’s happening inside California’s prisons through letters from people experiencing the horrific conditions of incarceration (and after), including the slavery that the exception clause of the 13th Amendment continues in prisons. The audience is invited to read letters, poetry and commentary by currently-caged people that are provided at the event.
This campaign also provides a platform for incarcerated and formerly-incarcerated people and their families to share their experiences and express their ideas to grow the Prisoner Movement for prisoners’ human rights, self-determination and thriving communities.
