I should add though that for some reason the county's voter records show that I didn't vote in two elections. This has always been upsetting to me, but I don't know how you correct it after the fact (I didn't learn about the error until several years later). I don't know what it means that my votes are missing. Does that mean they were not counted? Maybe it is just a data entry error. Most people don't get see the voter rolls (I just saw them when I started working on campaigns) which makes me wonder how often this happens.
I voted in all of them. I have voted in every election since I turned 18.
Hey Bill, While I generally totally agree with you about the Democratic Party, there is no non-Democrat in this race (other than the Republican who doesn't believe in global warming). Norman is an independent democrat, in that he will stand up to the party when necessary, but can work with people in it too. If the Democratic Party had leadership and membership like Norman Solomon, we wouldn't need to have the Green Party. I wish everyone running for Congress had his commitment to non-violence and history of working for peace and standing up for democracy. Kaitlin SB -Fellow Green & Proud Norman Solomon Supporter
In the Third Ward we got a candidate without (proven) majority support.
Instant Runoff Voting for Eureka would be the democratic solution to this problem (and in this instance it would probably mean Ron would have been elected handily - but it cuts both ways as IRV would have probably meant that Cherie Arkley would have beat Peter LaVallee for Mayor in 2002).
Also, I don't know about the numbers specifically but when ya'll are adding them up (especially in the Bass/Neely race) are you counting the money in their treasuries before January 1? They both had money in the bank that they could spend but that didn't need to count towards their reports filed this year.

Dave Meserve still has a shot too.
As Monica points out, tons of provisional ballots to be counted too and I bet that a disproportionate number of those are Arcata voters. I spent about 30 mins at the Vet's Hall in Arcata last night and I'd say it was nearly every other voter casting a provisional ballot. And about 99% of those were students who turned out big for Dave.
Even though he lost big on the absentees, he actually won the election night turnout and provisional ballots will tend that same way.
Otherwise I agree with you - the only race that is likely to flip is Cleary/Sundberg. Jackson should have done a GOTV effort, she'd probably be ahead if she had.
