More stores will come to the mall since there will be significantly more foot traffic and therein more opportunity. A half deserted mall is not a draw for shoppers and most stores there are low volume but for Sears. Probalby the most impacted will be Sears. But I find this whole thread rather silly with Walmart haters just finding another reason to vent. Private enterprise is just that and if you do not like a merchant, then do not shop there.

The Journal did further isolate itself to the liberal Arcata and MJ crowd and has lost its once held political importance. Ten years ago, the Journal had an impact on elections, not today. You have Judy's snobbish comments and the edgy editorial policy that is targeted to students and young folks who tune out to local stuff.

I expect when you get the pricinct results you will see that Southern Humboldt and Rex's District had a better turnout. The other districts had nothing real on the ballot to turn out for.

So did Seidner report the value of the ads placed for months on the Humboldt Herald? Certainly value over $100, juist can not wait for the name address and employer on that one. Bet it was not reported, nor would the Journal report anytning like that about one of "their" candidates.

Having a Supervisor who understands the details of a situation rather than blindly following staff recommendations is just the skill that is needed in a good candidate. Fortuna's staff knows that the ordinance does not regulate billboards but want to apply that ordinance to this billboard. Estelle is showing what a good Supervisor she will be.

So, I do not understand how people will come up with over $2 million and not expect a descent rate of return on the investment. If you look at the figures with a net profit of $.05 a station will be making about $3500 a month in net profit, not a reasonable rate of return for such a large investment. It looks like your "investigation" leaves a lot to be desired.
