This is a special interest law for the organic food industry. This measure pits farmer against farmer which is not fair and not good public policy. The people of Humboldt County should support our organic farmers but not at the expense of the conventional farmers.
Genetically engineered crops could be and should be farmed organically but the organic community refuses to permit it. There is no scientific basis for excluding GE crops from the organic standard; it is strictly ideological.
