Copies of Luna and Me will be on hand for sale. The proceeds from the sales of books directly benefits Sanctuary Forest, caretakers of the Luna Preserve. Luna and Me is a picture book for ages 4 and up based on the story of environmental activist, Julia “Butterfly” Hill, who endured a two-year-long tree-sit to save a thousand-year-old redwood tree named Luna. This beloved tree, Luna, resides right here in Humboldt County. Kostecki-Shaw says, “Julia’s peaceful activism and dedication to serving our earth inspires me deeply. I wanted to make a picture book that would bring her courageous story to children. Her message is simple: each and every one of us can make a difference.” Kostecki-Shaw’s website is www.DancingElephantStudio.com. Sanctuary Forest is a non-profit land trust based out of Whitethorn, Southern Humboldt County, CA. Since Julia “Butterfly” Hill descended the famous tree-sit in Luna, Sanctuary Forest has been entrusted to care-take The Luna Preserve.
