Re: “Poor Reggae on the River Attendance Leaves Mateel Community Center's Future in Question

Unfortunately, not the case, it was actually held Aug 3-6...
My personal take - I have gone every single year since '93, minus this one and one other one (when I was out of town). For me they failed to keep the caliber of the acts up this year and lost my interest. Although I love the event for the people and vibes, ultimately I go for the music as I'm a huge reggae fan. They need to keep their acts current and relevant and interesting to newer/younger reggae fan demographics and long time fans alike.

Re: “Capleton's Red Fox Tavern Show Canceled ... but the fyah's still comin' (UPDATED, NEW VENUE)

I must be lacking convictions...I go to Bat N Rouge AND have gone to Capleton shows. I'm bad at picking sides when there is so much positive to experience on either end...

hmm. shocking... so tired of the left wing moral police state BS here (and I've been here 20 years). Freedom of speech anyone? anyone? Bueller...? If you don't like what Capleton has to say at his shows, don't support them. Doesn't mean you need to kill the show for those who maybe don't believe his message is murder and oppression. Re: “Kala Kenyatte is Gone

I had the pleasure of playing drums in the band,, "Kala Kenyatte & the Sounds of Truth" for a few years. It truly was an amazing experience. Kala was one of the most passionate men I have ever know. Music was his life and his religion. A caring soul, when push came to shove, he was a man who would stand by you and give you those needed words of wisdom and encouragement. I enjoyed his sense of humor, and we spent plenty of time in the throws of laughter over the simplest of life's musings. The moments we shared on stage are etched in my spirit. He never failed to help lift the vibes to amazing Ites at every show. He always gave his all. I am truly saddened for our communities loss, but confident he is now pure music, the form he always strived for here on earth. Kala...big up and maximum respect. You will be truly missed my brother. One love, One Energy.
