Re: “Redistricting Maps Approved: Thompson Out

The North Coast will be part of a unwieldy congressional district, until population reaches a much higher level. Given that, this new commission has finally made a good stab at balancing districts, reducing gerrymandering and paving the way for more turnover in elected office.

Re: “The Problem with Fundies

Well, marriage as we know it is largely a 20th century tradition. It was not even a religious ceremony for a very long time in the Christian denominations. The idea of matrimony as a sacred matter in no way precludes marriage as a civil matter anyhow. A very large number of marriages in this country are civil ceremonies. Come on. It is time to come to grips with how things are today, not how they were yesterday.

Re: “Papyrus (the font)

My past life was in newspapers and fonts were an important part of my life when I was a page designer, but then papers had rules about which ones got used how. Not a lot of experimenting, Now it is great. Just loved reading the column, because I get to use fonts when I write my e-mail or poems. Arial Rounded MT Bold is my poison of choice.
