Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

Jacoby Creek Pull and Plant

When: Sat., May 7, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. 2022
Phone: 310-567-0149
Price: Free
The Watershed Stewards Program and the Jacoby Creek Land Trust are organizing a day of cottonwood planting and invasive removal along Jacoby Creek, which provides spawning habitat for endangered Coho Salmon as well as threatened Chinook Salmon and Steelhead Trout. Removing invasive Himalayan blackberry and English Ivy will encourage the growth of natural riverbank plants to better shade the water and reduce erosion. Volunteers will learn about the importance of native plants in salmonid habitats and restoration techniques. The work will conclude with a free barbecue and raffle, and snacks and coffee will be provided.
