Bottom line..........someone did blow the whistle on the five that were fired. What choice did the hospital have but to prove or disprove the allegations. So it took cameras to accomplish, sorry but it requires evidence to terminate someone with cause. People keep losing sight of the fact that this a place for critically ill people, not Winco or the local coffee shop. People DIE and any nurse not complying with proper care should be removed. Questionable means - maybe. Mission accomplished - yes. One can't help but notice that the union did not go to bat for the five in question to have them reinstated. That tells me that the hospital, in all probality, had more on those nurses than was ever reported to the public. Lastly, THANK YOU to all the nurses who do their jobs properly and have nothing to fear from the eyes of a camera.
Right to the point Willy Harris. Have they been turned to the California Board of Registered Nurses and the District Attorney? This kind of "screwing around", and yes that was allegedly going on too, is not acceptable in any work place, let alone in the place where the most critically ill patients are housed. Kudos to St. Joe's for ousting them and brick-bats to St. Joe's if they just "passed" them off to some other hospital, like the church passes off pedifile priests to other parishes.
What in the heck are you smoking or taking or drinking? You're fellow four nurses must be loving you about now?! Talk about shooting yourself in the foot...............got em all in one open mouth!
Right on Night Shift nurse.
Mr. Thornton states the charge of over sedating patients is unfounded yet he goes on to say that while two nurses regularly strummed their guitars "we made sure the patients around there are sedated". If the patients weren't being oversedated why did the use of narcotics decrease by 45% after the nurses were suspended? Mr. Thornton also states nurses are paid more to be up all night, says there is no party like atmosphere then states "there is a lot of slack time, we read books, play games, watch the internet." Is this part of an ICU nurses job description? Is this what the extra pay is for? To again quote Mr. Thornton, "These nurses don't toe the line." Obviously not! No proof equates to "there's no dead bodies." Were you just lucky? Lastly the IC in ICU means Intensive Care. Care on that shift seems to be anything BUT intensive. More like Care-Less.
Re: “I See You”
Come on! Why would any nurse change their clothes in a public (to the staff) breakroom when there is a private bathroom available?
