Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

Improvisation Workshop: Mode, Melody and Improvisation

When: Sat., July 15, 2-4 p.m. 2017
Price: $5 suggested donation
John Hirten, finalist in the American Guild of Organists National competition in Organ Improvisation, will present an improvisation workshop. Every musical piece, whether written down or improvised, is constructed out of a variety of building materials. Over time, musicians carry an ever-growing tool box containing these techniques. Hirten will delve into two of these tools, mode and melody, and explore ways to use them to develop a compositional “personality” through simple improvisation. He will be using the piano as well as organ in presenting this workshop. He will present an organ concert at Christ Church at 7:30 p.m.
