Godwit Days Opening Reception

Vendor booths, 980 entries in student bird art contest (a new record!), silent auction, festival merchandise. Presentation of third Humboldt County Bird of the Year Award at 6:35 pm, followed by free lecture by HSU wildlife professor Jeff Black (Steller’s Jays); Arcata Elementary School principal and students about their school garden habitat for birds, and author/photographer Harry Fuller about Great Gray Owls in CA and OR. Field trips, kayak trips, other events throughout day (6:30 a.m.-9:15 p.m.). On-site registration opens 3 p.m. Information and registration at www.godwitdays.org or call 707-826-7050.
