Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

Join Redwood Region Audubon Society and field trip leader Ken Burton on Sunday, September 25 for an all-day exploration of the Titlow Hill area. This area is Humboldt's premier montane birding locale but is not visited much at this time of year; let's see what we can find! Potential species of interest include Mountain Quail, Sooty Grouse, White-headed Woodpecker, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Hammond's Flycatcher, House Wren, Townsend's Solitaire, MacGillivray's Warbler, Green-tailed Towhee, and Cassin's Finch. Meet in front of Pepper's on Valley West Boulevard in Arcata at 8:00 a.m. to carpool or at the base of Titlow Hill Road at 8:45.
