Re: “TL;DR: Why You Need to Join the Conversation in This Week's Cover Story

The Police Chief speaks: "In the current climate, silence equates to consent, he wrote. Regardless of your thoughts or beliefs, silence is perceived as apathy and apathy may as well be support for white nationalism."
Ridiculous. According to his logic, everyone who doesn't write a comment here supports white nationalism. What a strange and sickeningly strident world this is becoming in the Age of Narcissism.

Re: “In Defense of Silence

I wouldn't mind someone cranking music 24/7 as long as it is 4 minutes 33 seconds by John Cage. Anything else is intrusive. Good opening.

Re: “Keep a Lid on the Id

Well written piece. I contend that things are functioning as they should:
Blogs/online newspapers are free to have whatever comment policy they feel is correct for them.
The NAACP (and you) are free to ask them to amend those policies.
We are free to read any source of news (and/or comments) we desire.

Journalists are supposed to inform us, what we do with the information is really none of their business and when it becomes their focus, journalism becomes an attempt to control us.

Re: “Musical Drag

Folk music is eternal, it is necessary, the masters can take most things away but that's not one of them.
Music, or any art, is not inherently good or bad, just liked, disliked or ignored.
I respect everyone's musical tastes, whether it be Pachelbel, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Britney Spears or John Cage.
Me, I'm a Beethoven man.

Re: “Unpopular Opinions

Restaurants in this area are not consistent. Even "expensive" ones. There are only a couple I can think of that I can reliably get a good meal at. I agree with Nick Painter's comment above mainly for this reason - Tomo has been really good (once you know what to order), so so, and downright disappointing. This is true of most of the eateries I have tried. Upside is I am saving a lot of money.

Re: “May The Forest Be WIth You

Seems rather ironic. Scientists are trying to save the planet, from other scientists. Unfortunately the ones who create destructive chemicals seem to be much better funded than those who are are trying to neutralize their effect.
Also the anthropomorphic depiction of the forest is deceitful. Nature (other than homo sapiens) is neither for or against anything, it simply is. Would that we were capable of being that pure. The beasts and plants were not cast out of Paradise into linear time.
Considering we cannot live without bias, should it not be "MAY WE BE WITH THE FOREST?"

Re: “HumBug: Come Closer, Said the Fly to the Fly

Can't they all just get along? Usually dig your column, but the ruthlessness of these flerrorists is just too much to stomach, especially with breakfast. :)
