Many events have been canceled or postponed due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19.
Please check with events or venues to make sure that scheduled events are still, in fact, happening.
As part of ISF’s “Circle Around the Sun” series of tours, all
are invited to join the Institute for Sustainable Forestry (ISF)
for a river float tour of the South Fork of the Eel River from
Tooby Park to Sylvandale. We will explore the natural history
of floods, faults, and fish as we float the river below Southern
Humboldt’s largest settlements.
Bring your own canoe, kayak or suitable floatation boat and
PFD (personal floatation device, i.e. life jacket). Please wear
good river walking shoes, bring your own water, hat,
sunscreen and a lunch. The swimming and snorkeling may
be excellent in the cool waters of the Eel River. Meet at
parking lot at Tooby Park, 934 Sprowl Creek Road,
Garberville at 9 AM, Sunday May 20, 2018. Shuttles will
return from Sylvandale beach just off the intersection of
Hooker Creek Road and Cal Highway 254 at US 101 by 4 or
5 PM when the float ends.
There may be extra boats to share or borrow. Pease contact
ISF early with available extra boats or seats within your boat
to arrange for enough boats for everyone who wants to
come.
A sliding scale donation to ISF of 10-25$ is requested. To
register or for more information contact ISF at
