Fall

Deer trimming pear trees
Eye fruit that slowly ripen
Into fall, as always,
Just in time for winter.

A Band Tailed Pigeon
Chases a scurrilous Raven
Through the Pines and Rooftops
Which punctuate the skyline.

Record temperatures
Go completely unnoticed
As shameless entertainers
Compete for our attention,

While we wait patiently
For something to fall,
And someone to grace us
With the fruits of their labor --

No one is coming.
