it would have been helpful if the police and/or Sheriff's dept. had,alerted all of us in the neighborhood about the fact that there were murderers on the loose ( I was less than a mile from the scene, and studying the high flows on the river, so I was spending time alone by the river). The Sheriffs dept has a responsibility to alert the surrounding area when something like this happens. A neighbor showed up at my door Thursday night suggesting I lock my doors; all kinds of crazy rumors were flying. I had heard from a friend on the coast that the suspects had been arrested, but that was as it turned out, only partially true. Hearing every kind of conflicting report from friends and neighbors only made things worse. When there is someone who is armed and dangerous and desperate, and his whereabouts are unknown, it seems there would be some effort to alert people so as to avoid any further harm. Don't you think?
