Dr. Terry Henkel, Professor of Mycology and Botany in the Department of Biological Sciences at Humboldt State University, will give a talk on Ectomycorrhizal Fungi in Monodominant Forests of the Guiana Shield and Central Africa as the February speaker for the Humboldt Bay Mycological Society. This talk will review work on life history traits contributing to forest dominance by tropical ectomycorrhizal (ECM) trees. Novel macrofungal taxa will be discussed, as well as comparative ECM fungal diversity in both continents. Although this talk description is technical, have no fear! Terry’s presentations are noteworthy for how accessible they are.
