...who actually PAYS to have their recycling removed when so many people would be glad to take it off their hands for free??? Or has the city mandated an additional charge, new school mafia style? I've never lived in an area where recycling was integral wtih garbage removal. Very good comic.
I posted "uninformed" above. After very little reading, it seems obvious to remove the dams. Thanks, barry, for the link as well. Only so many important issues one can focus on at a time...after so long I was due for some schooling on this one. Woes be the plight of man 50 years from now, eh?

To this day, all negative aspects of killing large trees, let alone in such broad fashion, goes understated. It is even an understatement to simply say it is an understatement.
Karma always comes back....I WORKED with this BI**** and she ended up getting me fired, or at least I'm sure she had a hand in it. I'm SOOOOOO Glad that Channel 3 FINALLY sees the true BETSY & "Showed her the door". I would have looovvveeed to see it!
True enough, Tim. But you've got to admit, within the basic ideas of choosing a Party affiliation, is a foundation of representation that is supposed to be respected FOR those sollutions to work. The differences aren't "iner-party" but rather "inter-party". In this specific case, members of the HCDCC have clearly misrepresented themselves to allow themselves a "sway vote". There are too many obvious conflicts of interest for them to benefit the greater Party they claim to represent. The "party" includes the general public.
It's foul play, it doesn't have to be a monumental walk of shame but it needs to be addressed, they need to address the public, and it needs to happen before the next series of elections. It's a clear case of label swapping. It can't be tolerated in any level of our government, it's bad enough there are people in our government who amount to liasons for large, very non-local corporations.
Re: “Groupthink”
The downward spiral continues with a great start in 2013... Related to real community development..."community" being a buzzword defined and embraced by the general public and used ad nauseam by all of Humboldt County's elected representatives.... ...development of physical infrastructure is a race best won by being as slow as possible, if the goal is forming a tight-nit community of likeminded people who prize Humboldt County's clean, natural environment and elbow room above all else. Who among our elected representatives can look the state and federal officials in the eye and tell them that state nd federal mandates for building infrastructure are not welcome here? In the long run, the "penalties" of refusing to comply with federal infrastructure mandates are of no importance, as consequences of new infrastructure itself have always exceeded available funds, to say nothing of the permanent damage to our environment. Arguments need to be clearly communicated to the general public, the consequences of bowing to out-of-county infrastructure policy...rural and urban...are at the behest of what we all value in living here. We do not want further dillution and pollution of our dwindling and circulatory water supply. We do not want more traffic. We do not want our value as laborers to dillute. We do not want more garbage. We do not want less natural open space! Develop a state of politics within this county that embraces less consumption and less material want. Develop a cooperative population that wants to restore the health of this county's environment, rather than continue to chip away at its failing natural and economic resources. Develop community, not infrastructure.
