A municipal utility district is a better choice. This takes PG&E and the CPUC out of the loop. Municipal utility districts have 20% or more lower rates and can implement real energy efficiency programs.

The nuclear waste at Humboldt Bay and all other California nuclear power plants is stored in 1/2" to 5/8" thick stainless steel containers that are subject to cracking from the marine environment and other factors. In January 2014 a Holtec canister was found to have conditions for cracking after only 2 years of service. The same canisters are used at Humboldt Bay and now San Onofre in Southern California may be buying those, too.
