Participants in the Dia de los Muertos Celebration in Arcata on Sunday afternoon started on the Cal Poly Humboldt campus and walked to the Sanctuary Garden at 11th and F streets for a stop with Centro del Pueblo members before heading on to Los Bagels on I Street. Katrina and skeleton puppets were provided by the Arcata Playhouse.

The Jardín del Santuario (Sanctuary Garden) created by Centro del Pueblo welcomed the puppets from the Arcata Playhouse and participants, including the traffic-control volunteers in safety vests from a Cal Poly Community Psychology class.

Central del Pueblo members Xochiti Cabreara-Sanchez (left) and Magali Cervantes invited walkers in the celebration into the garden via the walkway strewn with marigold petals to participate in the Dia de los Muertes day. They also invited everyone to pick marigold flowers before moving on to the rest of the Celebration at Los Bagels.
