Dan Menton Book Release/Signing

HSU alum and longtime Humboldt County resident, Dan Menten, has compiled a river guide to the North Coast region. The long-awaited publication, The New School Guide to Northern California Whitewater, gives river recreationists information about more than 135 river runs for boaters of all skill levels. The book describes everything from harrowing adventures down waterfall-laden steep creeks to casual floats and family outings. Dan draws upon 17 years of local paddling experience to provide detailed overviews of each run. Information concerning adequate river flows, access points and logistics, river character, rapids and hazards, and local beta will broaden any visitor’s experience. Also featured are local businesses and tidbits of information regarding the area’s geology, ecology and history. Everyone interested in local waterways is welcome to attend and meet the author.
