As a church-going Christain, I did not read Ryan's piece as demonizing the church. That way of thinking is so 1980's. If you've been too close minded to step into a church for the past 20 years, stop talking like you know what's up. Dino is a very sick man, and I am baffled as to why his congregation did not step up. My guess is that "conflict is to be avoided at all costs" -- a societial problem not limited to churches. We each need people in our lives who are unafraid to call us on our shit, regardless of how painful it is. Today, make a pledge in honor of the victim. Ask someone you trust to Always tell you the brutal truth - ALWAYS.
