Andrea Pickart, Ecologist for Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge, will present a lecture on Climate Change and Coastal Dune Conservation. Climate change is forcing land managers to rethink traditional conservation paradigms. This talk will include a general overview of climate change impacts, with a focus on our local coastal dune ecosystems. Andrea will discuss current guidelines for refuges to approach climate change in general, and how staff at the Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge are looking toward sea level rise impacts and adaptations in our dunes and estuaries.
