Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

CJ Boyd, Opossum Sun Trail, mister moonbeam

When: Wed., May 30, 7-10 p.m. 2018
Price: $5
C.j. Boyd: C.J. Boyd is a bassist without a fixed home. Born in California, and having resided in cities around the US and Europe, he and his music are always moving. Though solo recording and performance take up the bulk of his time and effort, he also plays in the improvised chamber orchestra Kurva Choir, as well as the recording project, Move. Former bands include Rhonya (Brussels), Desert Center (Los Angeles), Cairo (Rochester, NY), Kirtan Choir, The C.J. Boyd Sextet (Nashville), Paleo (Iowa City), Shy Hunters (Brooklyn), and Like No Tomorrow (Tacoma,WA). Since March of 2008, C.J. has been on a perpetual tour throughout North America and Europe. While on his native soil he travels by way of Del Griffith, a mighty Sprinter Van that has been converted to run on vegetable oil. What may seem to some as homelessness might also be called the subtle art of being always at home, regardless of location. Future, present, and past shows are listed here: Opossum Sun Trail: Arcata "post twang", bringing their cinematic take on spaghetti western and psychedelic music. Described by Dying for Bad Music as "like a menu of acid laced greek yoghurt, after a main course of spaghetti western with a side of sauerkraut-rock and american goth primitivism". mister moonbeam: "One man’s quest to master a whimsical expression of meticulous craft and vivid imagination."
