Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

Camp Living Waters

When: July 22-27 2022
Help your children, aged 9 to 15, avoid the mid-summer doldrums, send them to Camp Living Waters, an Episcopal summer camp set for July 22 to 27 at Cookson Ranch in Redwood Valley. This year’s theme is Space Camp: To Godfinity and Beyond! Camp Living Waters is a week-long Episcopal summer camp. It is a non-profit camp based at St. Alban's parish in Arcata and draws its staff members from the faith communities of the north coast who lead, supervise and encourage campers and counselors. Its week is based around a daily schedule including crafts, outdoor activities, swimming, Bible discussion, worship, and nightly campfire, with additional special activities throughout the week such as stargazing and archery. Campers aged 9 to 15 make new friendships and explore their faith and ask questions; counselors get to do that and learn leadership skills in a supportive atmosphere. The week is spent living and building a Christian community based on the values of love, service and fun. Andrew Curtis, who has attended Camp Living Waters for six years, described it as follows, " Two words: God's love. This is the entire purpose of the camp. We find it in a multitude of ways: the cool waters of the creek, the fun activities, the delicious food, the support of the staff and counselors. This is the one time in the summer that I look forward to most." Tuition for the camp is $175 and includes five nights lodging, meals and activities. For information or to register for the Camp go to www.camplivingwatershumboldt.org or call St. Alban's Episcopal Church at (707) 822-4102. Contact St. Alban's if you are interested in a campership.
