The Humboldt County Historical Society invites you to a garden and home tour of Redwood Grove, the Benbow estate designed by Julia Morgan, on Saturday, June 15, 2013, from 2-5 p.m. All proceeds will benefit Humboldt County Historical Society.

Architect Julia Morgan designed more than 700 buildings in California, most notably the Hearst Castle. She designed Redwood Grove in 1926 for San Francisco hotelier Margaret Stewart, who had just become the first president of the newly-formed Benbow Hotel Company. Helen Benbow oversaw the construction of this stunning Tudor Revival home.

It has been lovingly restored by Allison Huegel and James Sergi. They are offering a rare tour of the gardens and estate, which includes organic orchards and gardens, serene river views, and ancient redwood groves.

Tickets to this event are $50 for HCHS members, $60 for non-members. Light refreshments will be served. For tickets, please call 707-445-4342, or email director@humboldthistory.org.

Parking is available at Benbow State Park. Golf cart transportation or a short walk will take you to the site. Comfortable walking attire is suggested. Hotel reservations can be made at 800-355-3301. For more information please contact the Humboldt County Historical Society at 445-4342, or visit www.humboldthistory.org.
