Re: “Cabbage Burgers

I have been making these for 35 years. Found recipe in cookbook and the only difference between the recipes is that the one I used also called for caraway seed in the filling. My ex loved these in his lunch bag, we took them to the beach for picnics. Never tried with salsa but loved them with mustard. They freeze pretty well too.

Re: “Care Home Shut Down, Owner Suspended

I am so sorry to read about this. When Chamberlains first opened their care home my loved one elected to follow Gina from a home where Ms. Chamberlain was working to her new facility. Grandma was extremely happy there. I and other loved ones dropped in, unannounced all hours of the day and evening hours. Not once was anything amiss. The place was clean, food was home made, healthy and tasty but more important there was a sense of community between Gina and her family and her clients. Strawberries and a small garden were planted for the clients pleasure, it was dog friendly. I am so sorry that this small loving facility changed over the years. Grandma has been gone for a long time now and I'm grateful she wasn't there for the downfall of this once wonderful home. Drugs kill.

Re: “The Cancer Collaboration

I will be forever grateful for the treatment I received in the hands of Dr. Mahoney and Dr. Harmon, their staff and technicians at St. Joe's. Every detail was explained and every need was met with care and compassion. Humboldt County, we are blessed to have doctors like these two and others in their team here, in our neck of the redwoods.

Re: “Cut Bosses, Not Music

Perhaps College of the Redwoods is making room for Marijuana 101, a prerequiset needed in order to transfer to Humboldt State which cut out a much needed Nursing Program only to later bring in a Pot Major. Old hippies must be in charge of our schools of "higher" learning.

Re: “It's Official: This Weather Ain't Normal

I stopped complaining about our summer, or lack of summer, to friends and family who have been blistered by 114 degree summer heat. Felt foolishly spoiled and guilty since I only have to go inland a few miles to get the rays of warmth. Rather this "cool" summer than what the mid section is suffering through.

Re: “Ugly Contest

I don't find the billboards ugly, annoying, or anything else. There is so much natural beauty along the 101 highway that I don't even notice the billboards all that much. But I do notice the Tip Top ad here on this site and don't like it. Would not let my grandkids see your site because of it.
