Heads up, Humboldt:
While the county's masking mandate has been lifted, Public Health is still strongly recommending masking indoors in public, social distancing and "avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces." COVID-19 is still with us, so be sure to check the protocols at event venues.

Art Opening

When: Fri., Nov. 8, 6 p.m. 2013
Price: Free
Arcata Arts Institute is pleased to present a “double-feature” at Redwood Yogurt. We will be displaying both our Media Arts students’ work dealing with Semiotics in an exhibit called This Means This, This Means That and our Visual Arts students work in a show of portraiture that we’re calling Who We Are. Semiotics is the study of signs especially in language. During the exploration of Semiotics, Media Arts students investigated similar words that mean different things based on the context in which they are being used and represented the words’ connections visually through photographic media. Redwood Yogurt will also be featuring a body of work entitled Who We Are. This work is comprised of self-reflective self-portraits and anti-self portraits where students represented themselves as the opposite of their perceived self-image.
