Arcata Ridge Trail Work Day

In honor of National Trails Day, the City of Arcata, the Humboldt Trails Council's Volunteer Trail Stewards and the American Hiking Society are gearing up for another big volunteer work day to help build the Beith Creek Loop, part of the Arcata Ridge Trail.

Volunteers will meet near the corner of Margaret and Buttermilk Lanes in Sunny Brae on Saturday, June 1, 2013, and work from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

National Trails Day — the largest single-day trails and outdoor celebration in the country — consists of activities including hiking, biking, horseback riding, paddling, trail dedications, instructional workshops, park clean-ups, trail work projects and much more.

This year, volunteers at the trail building day can enter to win raffle prizes sponsored by the City of Arcata, Revolution Bicycle, Lifecycle, Pacific Outfitters, Adventure’s Edge, Humboldt Trails Council and the Humboldt Fish Action Council.

Gloves, tools, beverages and snacks will be provided and the Humboldt Fish Action Council will host a barbecue lunch after the work is done. Be sure to wear work clothes and closed-toe shoes or boots and to bring water and rain gear. ~ submitted
