On Friday, October 20, Bob Gearheart will present about “Natural Wastewater Treatment Processes: Arcata Pond/Wetland System.” Bob is a Humboldt State University emeritus professor of environmental resource engineering and current director of the Arcata Marsh Research Institute. In the 1980s, along with Arcata city staff and council members and HSU colleagues, he was instrumental in implementing a wetland treatment pilot project that led to the Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary we all enjoy today. This free public lecture, starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center, is sponsored by Friends of the Arcata Marsh (FOAM).
