Re: “Could Trump ‘Sabotage’ California’s All-Mail Election?

i don't understand how the people that were convinced that obama was going to be an authoritarian are somehow okay with trump actually doing authoritarian things. granted, there was brutal police violence against constitutionally protected protest during the obama administration, as well as plenty of deportations, but this is so obviously beyond the pale.

no republican that has solid values can support this. only people that call themselves republican, and define that by "that which fox news tells me upsets the libs" are down with this explicitly fascist behavior.

Re: “HACHR Denies Allegations as City Opposes Needle Program

i have to wonder, how much money did EPD spend on the investigation? and i remember how EPD has had to settle so many brutality and wrongful death settlements, which come out of the city fund, and how those settlements have driven the city's insurance premiums up. probably why 44% of the city's budget goes to EPD.

so i wonder, how many people could have been put into treatment and provided with support services with all of that money? what has EPD accomplished with the millions of dollars they cost us?

furthermore, of course EPD will be able to eventually find some drug users around HACHR that would be willing to ignore the rules and avoid staff attempts to keep folks from breaking those rules.

gimme a few minutes walking around downtown and i'll find somebody to sell me heroin. it's not difficult. this is a hatchet job.

Re: “EPD Releases Video on Fatal Police Shooting

it's entirely possible that they're being truthful here, that there's no other way this could have gone down. unfortunately, EPD has such a long history of reckless brandishing of weapons in public, highly biased/antagonistic treatment of folks that ain't housed, neurotypical, and/or white, excessive force, and needless killing unarmed people having mental health crises. incidentally, EPD has cost the city millions in settlements and increased insurance premiums. probably why near half the city's budget goes to them, yet crime doesn't seem to be going down.

they've screwed up too consistently for too long with too severe of consequences to not be viewed with suspicion in this situation.

Re: ““Pervasive Failure to Investigate:” Report Finds Lack of Scrutiny in Cases of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women

oh my goodness but sheriff antifa buses is a joooooke. it doesn't sound suspicious that a woman was observed to have been assaulted prior to "the accident", and was seated in the passenger seat when found? this is the clown that we're entrusting the whole sheriff's office to?

Re: “Column Quotes HumCo Nurse Tying Fatal COVID-19 Cases to Meth Dealer who Refused to Isolate

it's not just the young thinking they're invulnerable. it's the conservative reactionaries and the anti-vax woo-woo hippy reactionaries. they're the ones believing ridiculous conspiracy theories, out protesting the mask order.

they're gonna kill their friends and family, and they're gonna feel real damn stupid when they do.
