Re: “Save the Mateel!

Good riddance to the Mateel and all the old hippy scuz that clings to it like flies to feces. The Humboldt County marijuana growing bonanza was decades ago. The county is now left with the dregs: A declining economy, a poor and poorly educated populace, environmental wastelands left from the marijuana growing, little in the way of healthcare services, crumbling infrastructure, inept local governments, an opiod crisis, widespread criminality at all levels, racial animosity on the rise. And that's just a start. What a gory and festering thing you have become, Humboldt County citizens.

Re: “Amid Controversy Over New Policy, KHSU Volunteer Tried to Thwart Studio Move

Any charges would be felonies. For federal ones, he wouldn't have to go far: The CA Northern Dist. court is just up the road in Mckinleyville, lol.

Re: “Amid Controversy Over New Policy, KHSU Volunteer Tried to Thwart Studio Move

In writing, Knight admits to "...make that sort of request of you [the station engineer]". So he admitted to making a request for the engineer to take some kind of action. Ouch, this guy is in some deep legal cotton. And it looks like he's handling his own defense. Uh oh. Wonder if the US Dept. of Justice (US Attorney for Nor. Cal.) might consider bringing charges of domestic terrorism against him. Since 9/11, there have been many similar cases of people being charged and convicted for plotting to damage government and private infrastructure which a government radio station (KHSU) clearly is. Yikes.

Re: “Static at KHSU

1. Mr. Wruck is entitled to engage the legal services of any attorney who will represent him for whatever purpose is agreed upon. This applies to any person.
2. Ms. Bryant has wisely heeded the recent advice of her legal counsel to change course and keep her mouth shut. She is entitled to speak, of course, but other people have far deeper pockets and more experience than she.
3. Too many people in the community wrongly believe that they are entitled to control the operations of KHSU.
4. Most of the complainers focus their grievances on personalities and not issues and this will continue to diminish whatever influence they would like to have.

Personally, if I want content, I go to the internet for it and not KHSU even if it might be broadcast on KHSU. The station isn't worth the effort to listen and most of the volunteers take themselves way too seriously.

Bottom line? As the article quoted of Mr. Wruck: Humboldt State University owns KHSU and as such, they are in control of its destiny. All of the noise is the typical Humboldt County sniveling.

Re: “Way. Too. Much. Weed.

Market forces will continue to prevail. Thus, the price that buyers are willing to pay will continue its long decline. As a result, the Humboldt County economy will continue to decline and its social and community problems will continue to increase.

Re: “'Overlooked'

Drivel, this.

The human residents of Humboldt County are entirely deserving of the cesspool that the county has become in so many, many ways.

Re: “St. Joseph Hospital Fined by the State for Juggling Surgeries

This fine is hardly a surprise.

Providence St. Joseph Health's (PSJH) hospital in Eureka grossly lags its California and national peers in many categories. Hospital Compare has the specific category performance breakdowns:

https://www.medicare.gov/ho...

An example: PSJH lags its California and national peers in all 11 Patient Experience measures. Translation: At PSJH, money continues its long history of taking precedent over high quality patient care.

As for safety, The Leapfrog Group's most recent and voluntarily completed 205 question survey found that PSJH is among California's most dangerous hospitals for patients acquiring infections. The Leapfrog Group has the specific category performance breakdowns:

http://www.hospitalsafetygr...

When money is a higher priority than patient care, low quality survey results, dangerous conditions, and bad patient care are the norm. PSJH is an excellent case in point.
