Housing is ridiculously expensive here for everyone. I'm locally born and raised, went to HSU, moved out of the area and since coming back, I haven't been able to find a 1 bedroom apartment where the rent is less than 3x my income (unless I want to live somewhere scary in eureka...which, as a single early-30s female, I do not). Landlords charge outlandish prices because they know the parents or loans will pay for them...out of the area students aren't the only ones left in the lurch, locals are too (not that we seem to matter). Today I saw a studio advertised for $925...absolutely ridiculous considering the wages around here.
