Re: “P.G.& E. Outage Recording Training

Don’t forget: “Rapidly read the multi-digit ID used to specify the specific outage before the customer can grab pen and paper. Do not specify letters by using a common word that starts with that letter (“D as in dog; T as in tree) to maximize confusion. Do not offer a “repeat” option.
“And be sure to change that ID number every call. To, you know, keep our customers on their toes.”

Re: “Lost in Space

Simply a brilliant essay, one that everyone would benefit from reading.

Re: “'Our Problems'

Getting rid of Trump and reestablishing the rule of law in our country is certainly the top priority for me. All else is, at this point in our history, secondary.

Re: “Digital Nomad: A Bipolar Man's Slow Slide into Homelessness in Humboldt

I found this article engrossing but noticed an absence concerning the role of medications in this individuals struggle with bipolar disease. I have known a handful of people in my life who have also dealt with this disease, and their adherence to a prescribed regimen was/is a key factor in avoiding extreme situations. For some, I understand, the medications do not always work.
One of these people, a close friend of my brother, confided to my brother that he was stopping the meds because the highs are soooo good, you cant believe. A pioneering medical practitioner, he lost within months his family, his home and his practice.
Im not judging here. Im a recovering alcoholic, and about 30 years ago, after eight years sobriety, I made a similar decision that I would be able to control my drinking this time around. I, too, lost a lot in the ensuing five years.
But it would have been informative to know the difficulties Mr. Stretton has faced getting treatment and securing medication, the differences he has experienced when on or off his prescribed meds as well as the current availability of them to him. The struggle to get proper medication could be a story in itself. By the same token, any failure to take them could explain a lot about his challenges.

Re: “Business Owner Doxxed Over Utility Box Art Spat

"It seems disrespectful as business owners for us not to have more input." Excuse me: When were business owners anointed with special powers lifting them above the average citizen?
The council made a mistake in acquiescing to this person. How will they handle the next business owner who claims this special status?

Re: “Not Even from Around Here

Nothing like reading a complaint about outsiders influencing Arcata decision-making and then arriving at the bottom of the letter to find that the author lives in Eureka.
