Re: “Interior Department Removes Derogatory Term from Humboldt Sites, Hundreds of Others Nationwide

History both good and bad are there as reminders. Removing all the offensive to some names will not fix our future and if we erase history we are doomed to repeat it.

Re: “Alleged Energy Scam Has Eureka Residents Up in Arms

Thank our POTUS for deregulation! I too was visited by two solicitors from Spark Energy. They were very polite and discussed our local Redwood Authority for electric and stated they were from the gas side and can drop my rates. They asked to see my gas bill. Too bad it's all online. It's ok, we'll wait for you to print one. They had a flyer in their hand and while I was printing I looked up the company. Maybe I got suckered, but my new gas rate is .59 per therm. It is locked in and guaranteed for 12 months. After that we'll see.

Re: “DHHS Wants You (to Foster Parent)

Why have kids if you cannot care for them? I wish I had the space for a kid or two in need.

Re: “NOMRL

Welcome to our future! They are going to need a lot more fight! In case ya haven't noticed, our whole county is voluntarily being sold out and bought up by big city interests/"investors" and pot growers. They don't give a damn for preserving our beautiful and Quiet rural way of life. They are nasty greedy outsiders coming here to make money, in the process will destroy everything until it looks like any other big city full of concrete and asphalt.

Re: “'Affordable,' Really?

Humboldt has been my home for twenty years now. I finally got enough together for an awesome investment property/home which years later got caught up in the Countrywide BofA scandal and I lost everything including over 160k of my retirement. They all got bailed out but what did we get? Not a frikkin' thing - just a bunch of stress and grief. Well now I am in a mobile home and it's OK. I miss my land, but as stated the rents are constantly going up! The company who owns the MH park is of course far away from our area and they are eager to improve like thinking we want asphalt roads and pretty landscaping. I love being the rural person I am and despise all their 'upgrades' but forced against my will to pay for them if I want a roof over my head. Many folks in my MH park are struggling worse than I! If I wanted all this perfect manicured asphalt jungle I'd live amongst them in their sprawling metro cities! Humboldt is getting bought up so fast by big city corrupted corporations, and we are, one day very soon, are going to all wonder just what the hell happened! There won't be anything left for our kids!

Re: “Breaking the Cycle

The current inept director has driven too many qualified, professional and genuinely caring people away. This has been a long time coming and I have faith the Grand Jury will elicit resolve. Thank you Dr. Hayes and Traditions Behavioral Health for stepping up and doing what you do best. You are our saving grace during this uncertain time at mental health. Our vulnerable populations and dedicated mental health employees deserve the best after all they have been through.

I have to wonder though, what would it look like to remove dhhs, administration and turn Sempervirens into a state run facility?
