Re: “The Shut Out

Our mother went into Granada for 4 months. She had dementia and other health issues that she had lived with for years and which had been managed by her treating Dr. Everything you wrote about in the article is exactly what happened to our mother. She was only there for 4 months. Granada falsely billed the government for rehabilitation when our mother's heart couldn't handle it in reality, lied about it, changed records including medical records, made up diagnosis, kept her medicated as "she wanted to go home", etc, and the list goes on, We have proof of these allegations and an investigation report by DHHS which dinged them for a long list of violations and patients rights. My sister and I have had to do deal with this all on our own and we do have an attorney and pending law suit filed in 2012. We would be happy to disclose our records to the public as we have not yet gone to settlement phase. We have been interested in getting some advocacy from a local level. Too much time to go into details here, we could go on for a week. The fact is, we have documentation and a huge story to tell and pending law suit. We are most interested in doing what we can on a local level and the other matter is, trying to stay a live the past 3 years and stick with the long process to get some justice for all local elderly (not just our mom) and tax payers who are footing a huge bill for service not provided, poor care, rights violations, the list goes on and on!!!!! We have proof and would love to turn over as many documents to local voices while we still can. Our attorney referred to the owner and his monopoly as "the mafia". I rest my case and hope to hear from someone who can help us all on this!!!!
