Re: “The Light on the Bluff

I came to the Lighthouse Ranch from Morningstar which was located in Smartsville Ca.
I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior while I was living maybe I should say dying in a $16 a week hotel room in Vallejo Ca. I had been shooting speed for several years and took pride in being called a 1% er. On Sept 5th 1972 I took enough drugs to kill an Elephant. A few minutes later there was a knock on my door. It was a man that I had briefly talked with a day or so earlier. He seemed to know what I had done and told me he would be right back. The next knock produced a very young boy and girl 15 or 16 maybe, from Gospel Outreach Ministries. I had started to losing consciousness when I was asked if I would accept Jesus into my heart. I remember the kids eyes being filled with love and light. I accepted Christ and was instantly as clean and sober as I am sitting here right now By His grace. I did not know that I would writing all of this when I started writing this post. I went up to Morningstar Gospel Outreach ministries where I was baptized in the river the next day. A few days later I was given a ride up to Loleta
and lived at the ranch. I remember running a new water line up a very steep hill from a pump below by the beach. It was all I could do to hang on to the trencher which kept sliding all over the place. The rain led to singing praises and much joy coupled with laughter. I remember being in church one day when Pastor Jim said that someday all of our personal information would be kept on a magnetic strip on a plastic card.
I left the ranch and headed up to Klamoth to plant trees for Wearhouser on the snowy slopes with several of the Brothers from Lighthouse ranch.
I have returned to the ranch several times on my Motorcycle. Such great memories. I wish I could find the bakery.
I now work at the Morningstar youth ranch in Paso Robles Ca. We rescue neglected and abused horses and have kids come out to the ranch. Morningstaryouthranch.org is not affiliated with Morningstar Ranch in Smartsville other than being Christian based.
Jesus knows how much I would like to see those 2 kids again that led me to the Lord that day in the Solano hotel in Vallejo.
Thank You to Morningstar, Lighthouse Ranch. Jim Durkin, Kent McNair and Gospel Outreach Ministry in the Holy name of Jesus amen.

In His Grip!
