Re: “Dance the Night Away

The Thrusday Show at the Jambalaya....Re: Dead Man's Tale...maybe a little more research should have been done? The members of the band have a great history with the music of humboldt county. Each member has been in a Local band for more than the past ten years. They have done numerous shows over the past year, even won KMUD's battle of the bands and performed at the Redwood Run (the biggest motorcycle run around). There is many more facts I could say but that would make a whole article for the journal. I think they deserve a little more respect and the writer should do their homework or not say anything at all. Maybe a detailed article covering the band should be in order for redemption. contact the band and get some real stats to write. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dead-Mans-T…

Re: “Déjà Reggae

I think as participants and voters we deserve to hear from the "decision maker". There should be an explanation of how the contest was determined!

Re: “Déjà Reggae

I just have to say that maybe this contests regulations of how the judgement is determined should be reviewed....the votes obviously meant nothing. Or maybe whoever runs the North Coast Journal should look into who is running the contest, for all we know that person just got their friends free tickets two years in a row...also any other participant should have won. The "voters" aka friends of video number seven have made rude and uncalled for comments both years. Is it the use of not so attractive "sex appeal" that made them win? They have no reggae spirit. The complete opposite of good irie vibes. The real meaning of Reggae on the River (which I have attended 15 times) is to enjoy an experience of community coming together to see some awesome music, meet new people, Young and Old. People want to portray ROTR as a rave like party event, and i can say that does happen there in certain areas of the event, but Reggae on the River as a whole is still and always will be a FAMILY oriented event to benefit the community. I guess im the winner in a sense because im blessed to know the actual meaning, and I will never disgrace that for as they say "cheap thrills". Congratulations on getting the tickets, though I dont believe you won it fairly.

Re: “Reggae on the River Videos: Vote Now

All I can say is that Reggae is about peace, love and UNITY. No room for negativity, and furthermore Reggae on the river is a Family event and always has been. People have it twisted to be a "college party" event to get wasted and thats not what the true original meaning is. My vote is still for #3 or #10 but I would be happy for any of the family oriented videos with good vibes. Definatley not for a borderline pornographic, innapropriate, non-reggae influenced video. feel free to dislike this comment its all opinion :)
