Re: “The Billion-Dollar Dream

Look Everybody ! This thread is improving ! There are actually three folks who are discussing the details of the opinion piece (aka Feasibility Study) which Wilson and Higgins commissioned. The rest of this group of illustrious contributors seem to continue in the typical form of dogs pissing on the fire hydrant, ("see who can shoot higher") but confuse delivery of opinion with analysis. It is a common ailment of "trolls", such as the characters you commonly see here, and force us to tolerate. This phenomenon also occurred around the question of having WalMart come in, or highway 101 widened - which the NCJ also spent ALOT of ink on. Hey, how did THOSE horrendously important issues wind up? Walmart came in - ho hum and yawn- and we all fell asleep because there was no collapse of local the merchants. The plan to safely expand the highway without disturbing the energy fields around the 9 redwood trees (of which there are ONLY 41,000 in that little park) continues to move forward, too. I expect, when these (same?) knee jerk reactionary jokers finally understand that the question of financing this proposed railroad is NOT the question, you may actually come up with questions worth thought or substantive discussion. In the meantime, keep pissing on yourselves by mixing personal comments into relevant discussion. It certainly adds to the perception that Humboldt is for Stoners Only, (and "so called" staff writers who can't even recognize syntax and grammatical failure when it is pointed out.) Don't concern yourselves that the REAL 250K USD feasibility study will be paid by public funds. It has already been funded, moves forward, and, like the Drury Report, will only be seen by the end users who ordered it. Why otherwise ? To paste your name in this liberal, biased rag run by befuddled old ladies and "writers" who get company stock instead of wages? But, just so you know - Rob Arkely does NOT have a cent in it, he is BROKE, so get off of his case and go get a life. The railroad study is coming, folks, but NOT to you.

Re: “Run Out on a Rail

Behaving as a knee jerk toady to the NCJ's management cannot, apparently, protect you from sending a torpedo into your own professional persona, Joel ! Using such poor grammar as: "Jesus, the only thing worse than sore losers is sore winners." demonstrates that you should stick to your lackluster (so called) cartoons. This will waste less precious NCJ capital on editors having to clean up your shallow twaddle.

Re: “Run Out on a Rail

Well ! Another "hit piece" by Ryan Burns and the NCJ ! How surprising ! It begins to drag by about word 1,000, but at least Judy Hodgson has, once again, distracted and bored the public from the real essence of what is occurring around the NCRA and East-West rail proposal. The real story is this: The time of proposing goof ball characters to the board of an active and operating California railroad is drawing effective, increasingly active and organized pushback of the "Arcata political clique" agenda. As a local dyed-in-green conservationist who understands the future importance of ecologically sound forms of transportation on this planet , I see this article as another piece which both builds and capitalizes on the polarization around this issue. Listen, most of us who know Alex Stillman appreciate her heart and her intentions. However, any board of directors member who immediately starts publicly spouting incomplete facts about corporate bank accounts of a fiercely competitive company she is, by doctrine of position, obligated to protect is proof that she is unqualified and CERTAINLY not interested in strengthening the NCRA. The value of this resource demands better husbandry than inaccurate procedural methods and unprofessional people occupying the board positions.

Re: “Leadership Seriously Lacking

If anyone in this thread believes the "pot stirring" alarmist nonsense, put forth by Judy Hodgsen regarding these (OMG ! ) heinous changes in a largely symbolic document, is worth starting a conversation about, then you just must need more of her company "WHINE"... Imperfect as we all are, these Supervisors are democratically elected people who defeated her "clique" and have begun to push back on ALL the nonsense zero sum games which have been the hallmark of her so-called "Progressive" political group. And recommending that Cliff Clendenon to return, is like asking for bullwinkle reruns. The sky is not falling, Judith, and you SHOULD have caught your mothers advice,...but she was the catcher, not you - YOU THE SLINGER ! Throw another party and good luck with the next round of "sling".
