I live down in Santa Cruz and there's a local place here called 'burger.' that serves up the HumCo beef goodness. Not as good as Starz, but hey, I'm not complaining
I too, left in 2007, and not a day goes by that I don't think fondly of my 8 years in Arcata and attending HSU. I've tasted the endless chase of the city, and I far prefer the three-stoplight lifestyle gifted by Arcata. I moved to Portland, and found a similar economic climate, being entirely unable to advance in my profession past entry-level temporary jobs having liberated myself from Humboldt Country right around the same time the economy liberated itself from it's collective insanity. So, now I'm in Minneapolis for my third winter, having found several suitable jobs. I grew up in the city, and discovering the slow pace of life leads me to appreciate more and although I may have less, I feel, for the most part, happier with less. I too, visited Humboldt recently, feeling much joy, and I long for the day I can return on a more permanent basis.
