Re: “Watching Ward 2

I clearly was offended by Joe's statement on the Marina Center. "It turns the marina into a cool place to be during the day to work and a fun, hip place at night," Bonino says. It magnetizes the city. Young people will come to hang out... and to live in housing that isn't 105 years old." 1.The facts of the matter is that they couldn't afford the rent, as well as senior citizens.
2.The retail jobs offered wouldn't pay their rent. 3.Most higher paying are in Arcata and other areas. 4. Eureka promotes on it's beautiful Victorian homes. (Eureka Chamber of Commerce). Many of us who rent, own, live and care for our old homes, do it out of choice. Our Grand girl is 120 years old, and are honored to live in her!

Re: “Burned by the Wait

Why didn't the neighbors or even some of the tenants file a small claims lawsuit against the owner for nusiance abatement. It seems that there was well documentation of complaints of unsavory activity at this address. About a year ago a group of neighbors on Hillsdale Street did just that and won! Take back your neighborhood...

Re: “Empire Falters

Mr. Hansen and his heir's are my "New Heroes". Caltran's didn't build the frontage road only out of spite, and to slowly starve them out. The 10's of millions that they wasted for a overpass, they could have made some concessions. I'm sure a Jury will see that! I wish the Hansen's the best, never give up. Everyone patron their business. Great article Heidi!

Re: “Hooked

I bet this is the most posted comments that NCJ has ever got! I guess it stirred some emotions, huh? What goes on behind close doors would probably set many off as well! Grow up, this is America! I think the Halloween issue would have got more attention
